As a speech language pathologist serving critical care patient populations, patients with tracheostomy receiving mechanical ventilation are a common occurrence on Holly's daily caseload. In working to restore communication, swallow, cough, secretion management, and quality of life, speaking valves are an important tool but require careful assessment and close collaboration with the patient’s RT to optimize outcomes and success.
Priyam Mithawala, PharmD, BCPS

As an inpatient pharmacist with 10 years of experience, Dr. Mithawala have developed a deep familiarity with respiratory therapy medications. Her role in these 10 years involved regularly dispensing and managing a wide range of bronchodilators, corticosteroids, mucolytics, and other respiratory agents used in the treatment of conditions like asthma, COPD, and acute respiratory distress. She collaborated closely with respiratory therapists and physicians to ensure optimal medication regimens, adjusted doses based on patient-specific factors, and monitored for potential drug interactions and side effects. Her extensive experience has equipped her with a thorough understanding of these medications, enabling her to contribute effectively to patient care in a hospital setting.
